How AI is Transforming My Product Photography Workflow

Artificial intelligence is rapidly changing the creative industry, and rather than fearing it, I’ve embraced it as a powerful tool to enhance my workflow and creativity in product photography. AI isn't here to replace photographers—it’s here to support and inspire us. Here’s how I’m using AI in my business to improve efficiency, spark creativity, and refine my process.

1. Generating Image Ideas with Midjourney

One of the biggest challenges in product photography is coming up with fresh ideas for each shoot. I have been using Midjourney to test unique compositions, lighting setups, and creative concepts. By typing prompts related to my client’s brand and vision, I can quickly generate visual inspiration that helps guide my shot lists. This eliminates creative blocks and ensures every shoot feels fresh and tailored to my client’s needs.

2. Enhancing Proposals with Google Whisk

When pitching concepts to clients, visuals speak louder than words. Google Whisk allows me to create AI-generated images that bring my ideas to life in the proposal stage. Instead of relying solely on mood boards or sketches, I can present photorealistic mockups that help clients visualize the final product. This makes the approval process smoother and allows for better collaboration before the shoot even begins.

3. Optimizing SEO with ChatGPT

A strong online presence is extremely important for attracting high-quality clients, and SEO plays a major role in that. I use ChatGPT for keyword research and content strategy. The insights allow me to target the right audience with the right messaging, improving my reach and engagement without spending hours on research. I’m not a writer, I’m a photographer. Which means I want to put my creative energy into do doing what I do best.

4. Streamlining Workflow and Brainstorming

AI isn’t just a creative asset—it’s also a productivity powerhouse. From generating email templates to brainstorming marketing strategies, I use ChatGPT to streamline many aspects of my business. Instead of getting stuck on small details, I can focus more on client relationships and producing the best imagery I can for my brands.

Why AI is a Creative Ally, Not a Threat

There’s a lot of fear surrounding AI in creative fields, but I see it as an opportunity rather than a replacement. AI tools don’t take away my artistic vision or technical skills—they enhance them. They help me push creative boundaries, save time, and provide better service to my clients. By using AI as a tool rather than a crutch, I can stay competitive while continuing to deliver high-quality, unique work.

If you’re a photographer or creative professional hesitant about AI, I encourage you to explore how it can complement your work. The key is to use it with intention—to enhance, not replace, your craft. Embracing AI has made me a more efficient and inspired photographer, and I’m excited to see where the future of creativity and technology takes us.
